The 'Moiser' from Deal requests leniency: I am mentally ill
Shlomo Dwek's lawyers submitted a request to the court for leniency. The reason: the defendant and his family suffer from mental disorders leading him to capital offenses.

Solomon Dwek, who incriminated the rabbis in New Jersey's Chalab community of money laundering and caused severe economic crisis within the well established community, along with many other Orthodox people in Brooklyn - seeking lenience in his sentence, arguing that he was suffering from mental problems.
The request was submitted to the court by Dwek's lawyers detailed in 94 pages which were written by Jerome Rubin, who is a clinical psychologist. Robin writes among other things, that from his professional opinion, "Dwek's offenses were due to mental disorders."
He also notes that four of the Dwek family members suffer from similar mental disorders, and that the extended family also suffered from mental health problems.
Dwek's sentencing is set for October 18th. He was convicted of money laundering and bank fraud offenses. According to the assessment, he faces a sentence of nine to eleven years in prison under a plea bargain, but the judge could determine a sentence of more or less years than agreed.
Dwek is considered a 'Moiser' within the Chalab community in New Jersey, after he cooperated with the authorities in order to protect himself. Using eavesdropping and recording devices which worked day and night in his conversations with community members he incriminated 46 people who were arrested - and most of them were charged and convicted.
In recent years, Dwek was free, but after the case of the rental company car theft was discovered Dwek was jailed. He later lost all benefits he would have been entitled to in exchange for criminalization of the community, since he lied during his testimony.
