After 30 years Moshe Mordechai (Mona) Rosenblum, the legendary composer and arranger of Hasidic music, concluded his role in the IDF as conductor and musical director of the Military Rabbinate Band in early October.

Behadrey Haredim learned that this is the decision of the senior officials in charge of the band.

Rosenblum served as music director of the band for over three decades as a civilian employee of the army. During the years he accompanied the band's music – from melodies and arrangements to conducting rehearsals at performances and events.

In 2010 Rosenblum won the award from 'AKUM' for a lifetime achievement and contribution to music. "Moshe (Mona) Rosenblum was a rare musical prodigy," reads the resolution. "even as a child, when he combined texts from the scriptures and music in which there was innovation and fresh creativity."

It also states: "Mona Rosenblum is also the musical director of the Military Rabbinate Band and worked closely with the great Chasidic singers of the generations such as the veteran Ben Zion Shenker, Mordechai Ben David, Avraham Fried, Dedi Graucher and many more."

It is not yet known who will replace Rosenblum's job.

The IDF spokesman and Mona Rosenblum confirmed the details to Behadrey Harhedim.
