"Peles" supporters gathered last night (Saturday) in Bnei - Brak to express support for the paper.
The conference was held in honor of a general mobilization among students and alumni affiliated with the conference paper challenging the Yated Ne'eman, including 'Maalot HaTorah', 'Grodna - Ashdod, and Ponevitz of HaGaon Markovic. Buses were available to participants from several locations across the country.
The conference was held in the "Heichalei Malchus" hall in Bnei Brak and the hall is owned by one of the organizers of the conference - Menachem Carmel.
The conference was guided by Rabbi David Zicherman, founder of Degel HaTorah grocery shop in Jerusalem and Maggid Shiur of the Daf Yomi at the Western Wall. Rabbi Zicherman was also the first speaker and spoke about the importance of the purchasing the "Peles" newspaper, which represents, he says, the real opinions of the Rabbanim of Israel.
Further on a video of Rabbi Shmuel Levin was screened, of rabbanim in Argentina, who delivered words of encouragement to the participants. Later on Menachem Carmel spoke. He has been placed third in the previous election of Degel HaTorah list (7th in the list of United Torah Judaism), and now his place on the list, in the upcoming elections, is highly doubtful.
