'Nose' Magazine repenting? Amended illustration and angry comments

The culture 'Nose' magazine - caused a stir last month when it published an illustration showing a girl dressed immodestly, kicking the leg of an Orthodox man sitting on a bus until he bleeds- has repented.

This month, the magazine devoted its main theme to religion as it published an illustration of a the blow stricken boy and striking girl riding on bicycles side by side on the Jerusalem light railway while the girl squeezes the boys hand.

The magazine is published this month titled "Everything under the dome" when the gate is an illustration of the orthodox wearing prayer shawls and in the background parachuting IDF soldiers. Even within the magazine itself are short comic stories mocking the orthodox public.

But what is interesting of all is the illustration appearing on page 48 in the magazine in which appears the girl who "hit" the "battered" boy, while they travel in peace and unity on their bikes. The illustrator is Eliran Harosh, also responsible for the previous month's illustration.

Condemned:
On the side of the illustration a letter by Ehud Ben Yehuda from Bnei Brak is published "I understand the conflict between the ultra orthodox and secular in Jerusalem. They are a pain in the neck, their scandals and their black clothes, and what do they want, let us live in peace, some quiet please. I just ask: What are the boundaries of illustration? Is an artist allowed to express any opinion, every image, without any reservation?

"Tell me honestly: if the illustrator would have chosen to illustrate a Jerusalem resident kicking an Arab, would it have been published? ... I claim that this illustration has crossed forbidden borders. Violence is violence. Now you face two choices. Attempt to justify this mistake apologize half-heartedly, and cleverly say, "We apologize to all the idiots who do not understand what comics are. Second choice is to say, we were wrong. "Sorry, it happens. Those who do not do can do no wrong."

Even at the end of the magazine there were a number of such related talkbacks on the previously published illustration. One of the comments written by "justice" reads: "left-wing foes of Israel investigate in the criminal court immediately." And in response: "I wish, maybe then we'll finally go abroad."

Magazine editors wrote: "We are proud to be an open stage and we do not censor different and interesting sounds. In freedom of expression, there is not 'but'."

Recalling, an illustration published last month sparked anger and magazine editors were even filed a complaint against them to police authorities for incitement to violence, a complaint which has not been given significant attention on the part of the police.
