Orthodox businessman Chaim Yaakov Leibowitz, has resigned from the Shemen petroleum and gas company, reports "Calcalist."

Chaim Yaakov Leibowitz, a main controller at the company sells the majority of its shares to a group of buyers between the businessman and his partner Abraham Nanikshvilli, making him the largest shareholder in the company, and the Lapidot company controlled by Jacob Luxenborg.

Leibowitz founded the oil drilling company Shemen, with Nanikshvilli and Jacky Ben Zaken, but now, after the company won a license for drilling, he sold the company, after it turned out drilling cannot be stopped on Shabbos.
Leibowitz asked the opinion of great Rabbanim, and they ruled that he should sell his shares.

At the head of the Shemen company stands the former Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi, and the company is managed by Yossi Levy.

According to the report, the deal will be priced lower than the stock market.
