Surprising election campaign: 'Ha'avodah' observes Shabbat?

Ever since MK Sheli Yachimovich was selected to head the Avodah Party, she consistently refrained from attacking the Hareidi sector.

It is now clear that this is not something 'accidental', but the trend is directed to the goal of addressing the Hareidi public, perhaps to the swaying one (TOV movement?) and to rake in the votes in the upcoming elections.

A few days ago they were surprised at the Zomet institute to receive an unexpected order from movement activists, who ordered a "Shabbos speaker" to deliver a social – democratic seminar.

During last Shabbos a seminar was held in Zichron Yaakov of the Katzenelson Foundation activists and the Avodah movement. If previously the Avodah party had a clearly anti- religious tone - this Sabbos was adapted for Shabbos observers and the sound system which was ordered was a "Shabat-kol" from the Zomet Institute, a development allowing the use of amplification on Shabbos.

The Zomet Institute at Alon Shvut is accustomed to receive last second orders for Shabbos products, but such an order they certainly did not expect. The youngsters of the Berl Katznelson Foundation, labor movement activists - are the last of whom they would expect such a request.

The activists explained that out of more than two hundred people registered, ten are observant and in order to allow them to attend the conference, they decided that the event will be adjusted for Shomrei Shabbos, the food will be kosher, and when there will be an event with the musical instruments and an orchestra, other activities will be arranged for the religious - suited to Shomrei Shabbos.

This was seminar on "The social-democratic perception in the municipal arena," to which labor activists from across the country arrived.

Dan Marantz, director general of Zomet Institute: "We are delighted that we have the ability to help every Jew who wishes to observe the Sabbath, and certainly to disciples of Berl Katzenelson wrote: "Shabbos for me is one of the pillars of the Hebrew culture and the first social achievement of working man in human history."
