Beirut is bleeding: eight killed and 78 wounded in an attack
IED placed in a Christian neighborhood in East Beirut, close to the building of opponent to Hezbollah organization - killing at least eight people and wounding scores

At least eight people were killed and 78 injured in an explosion at the Christian neighborhood party - Asrafiah in the east of the Lebanese capital, Beirut. The wounded, including children, were evacuated to hospitals in the area.
The incident occurred in the Sassin Square, near the building of the General Secretariat of the "March 14" camp - the anti-Syrian camp which opposes Hezbollah. According to reports in the state, it was probably a charger device which was placed in a car.
Witnesses reported that a lot of smoke rose over the building after the explosion. Lebanese news website 'A-Nashra" mentioned that the explosion occurred in a building which houses a branch of French-Saudi bank BEMO, not far from the radio station "Voice of Lebanon".
Many cars caught fire following the explosion, and damage was caused to a nearby building. According to local media reports, people were seen running in panic searching for their relatives, and others helped to evacuate the wounded to rescue vehicles. Security forces closed the scene of the attack.
The AP news agency correspondent reported that he saw a girl bleeding from the head, and other wounded uploaded to ambulances. Eli Khalil in Beirut, related: "I stood at the Sassin Square and heard a big explosion and ran straight in its direction." He said he saw at least 15 people bleeding in a parking lot shortly before the medical teams reached the scene and evacuated them to hospital.
Syrian Information Minister Umran Zoabi, condemned the "terrorist attack". Zoabi said: "There can be no explanation for performing such attacks." Lebanese political figures also strongly condemned the attack and participated in the sorrow of the victims' families.
