A conference to mark 100 years of public medicine in Israel in Tel Aviv • Hundreds of Israel's health care system seniors, and representatives from state members of the OECD

A conference to mark 100 years of public medicine in Israel was held today in Tel Aviv with the participation of about three hundred people, Israeli health system seniors, as well as representatives from 16 European countries who are members of OECD.
The conference was entitled "Financing of health systems and health services."
In his conference greeting Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu praised, the health system and its Chairman MK Yaakov Litzman.
The Prime Minister described the successes and achievements of the health care system for three years to the participants, and noted that the achievements are most impressive and in each index Israel is one of the highest worldwide.
Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman, spoke about the need to increase resources to the Ministry of Health to improve the service provided to the public. However, Litzman noted that despite the lack of budget Israel's health care system comes to great achievements.
General Director of Ministry of Health, Prof. Roni Gamzu, presented a survey conducted with Mr. Nir Keidar and Dr. Chaim Lavon, who presented the OECD countries the optimal health system structure and the way to reach it by adopting such a structure, contributing additional years of life in life's expectancy and savings of hundreds of millions of dollars in health systems worldwide.
Work was based on data from the OECD countries and used a computerized model that allows the structure formulation of each of the countries that streamlines their health systems.
The conference was attended by senior members of the OECD, along with many economists and experts in the fields of economics and health. Prof. Yisrael Uman, Mathematics Nobel Prize Winner was a guest lecturer at the conference.
