Peace hopes in Seret Vizhnitz smashed?
On Friday afternoon there was a meeting between the Seret Vizhnitz Rebbe and his son in law, Rabbi Aharon Tuvia Shpitz and his family, who arrived last Wednesday from Boro Park, Brooklyn to Kiryat Vizhnitz in Haifa to meet the Rebbe - but on their arrival at the Kiryah they were surprised to find that the Rebbe was on vacation in a secret place.
The meeting was finally held on Friday. How was it held in practice? There are two versions.
According to sources in the Seret Vizhnitz chassidus, the meeting was made possible after tedious negotiations between the grandsons of the Rebbe, Baruch and Yisrael Shpitz and the two leading Chassidim, which ended on Friday morning with a signed draft agreement, stating the name 'Seret Vizhnitz' will be removed from the Beis Medrash the son in law opened in Borough Park.
Thus, they say, the agreement led to the existence of a reconciliation meeting between the Rebbe and the Shpitz family, at the luxury villa resort on Tamar Street in Caesarea.
However, according to family members they arrived at the place after they managed to locate the resort where the Rebbe was hidden, and jumped over the fence to get inside and meet the Rebbe.
When senior Seret Vizhnitz chassidim were asked, why the Rebbe's son in law had to leap over the fence surrounding the villa, if an agreement was signed, they replied: "It is to show that supposedly there is no real peace."
Either way, having been received kindly by the Rebbe, the family from New - York remained at the place, and food was brought for the whole extended family.
However, during Shabbos an argument broke out between the two sides and according to the chassidus members, the agreement was canceled.
On Motzei Shabbos security officers were called to vacate the family.
The conflict between the son in law and the seniors at the Seret Vizhnitz chassidus broke out after the Rebbe's son in law established a separate Shul in Borough Park. Senior chassidim were furious, claiming that there is one chassidus in Seret Vizhnitz, and the establishment of another Shul under the same name is a call for challenge.
