Bikur Cholim hospital personnel, recently distributed information sheets in Yiddish encouraging complaints against domestic violence.
The target audiences of the information pages are women from the Hassidic groups in the city, who come to the hospital for treatment.
Under the heading "enough to beat women and beat anyone at all," the health care turn to women who came to the emergency room following violence at home or in the community, and call them not to remain silent and act for displacement of violence of the soul. "
Information pages warn that violence and torture at the Haredi home can lead to death."
The solution, according to a letter by the journalist Moshe Heller in Yedioth Jerusalem, is an appeal for assistance from organizations such as police, doctors and hospitals and Na'amat organization.
Former Women's Network Executive Director Nurit Tzur says that she believes the prevalence of violence within the family is not higher in the Haredi sector.
"You cannot say that it exists in some sectors more, but to some the issue is suppressed, such as the Arabs and Haredim, because of lack of cooperation with state authorities. It is acceptable for them to wash their dirty linen at home," she says.
