View of graves will disappear from entrance to Jerusalem
Har Hamenuchot views will be hidden by beautiful trees and covered wall of Jerusalem stone • City Council: "I've received complaints about the bleak landscape as seen by those who enter and exit the capital"

Jerusalem Municipality is promoting a new program by which the cemeteries' views of Har Hamenuchot in Givat Shaul will be hidden using high cypress trees, extensive vegetation and a concrete wall covered with Jerusalem stone.
According to a report in Ma'ariv, the CBP has been approved and soon a tender for landscape architects will be published.
Meirav Cohen, Council Member on behalf of "Hitorerut" said she had received complaints from residents and visitors about the bleak landscape of graves seen by those coming and going through the gates of the capital through Highway 1.
"Ever since I can remember, entering the city on Highway 1 has always struck me as depressing because of the bare cemetery of Har Hamenuchot," Cohen explained to Ma'ariv. "I am finding more residents whom it bothers. I think the main the axis the capital of Israel ought to be pleasant and inviting. That people will feel that 'Jerusalem is surrounded by mountains' and not 'graves surround it". Jerusalem receives millions of people, and I hope that through this project the first appearance they are exposed to when they arrive in the city is its unique beauty, and not the constant reminder of death and bereavement."
