Practical joke • Volunteers' played a prank on the gossipers

"Did you hear? Michael Gutwein, legal department coordinator at Zaka, was arrested in Tel Aviv!" Avremele told Yankel today (Thursday) when they left Mincha.

"Are you serious?" asked Yankele, just like a good Jew should.

"Yes, yes, look at the gossip group."

Wrong.

ZAKA volunteer's decided this afternoon to teach the media, and especially the gossip fans, an important lesson.

At around 13:00 pm, a volunteer at the organization sent a text message entitled "Internal, do not send." In the message he wrote: "ZAKA legal department Director Michael Gutwein arrested after causing uproar during a discussion about autopsies at the Magistrate's Court in Tel Aviv."

Coordinated by one of the volunteers with Gutwein, he told him: "Do not answer phone calls for the next half hour."

The 'copy-paste' method was put into action: The message was sent quickly from one group to another, and without checking the veracity of things, the fate of Michael Gutwein was doomed. There have been groups who informed in Watts Up "he is released ..."

"Dozens of journalists began to call the organization to check," says one of those involved in the prank to B'Chadrei Charedim. "They tried to find out by volunteers and department heads what basis there is, and meanwhile in every possible group or closed forum the message was distributed".

"The goal was one: to test the strength and power of such a notice, distributed through advanced technology, the groups and text messages, just to show people how important it is to check they reliability of each message.

"Unfortunately, it has been proven that you can spread around that you are going to jail - and nobody checks if it is truth."

Gutwein himself said to B'Chadrei Charedim: "I keep getting phone calls; people called me and asked me if I was arrested? I told them no. They insisted and told me: 'You are working on us." The only thing to learn from this is to check each and every message."

"And by the way, although it is not true, if it's for respect of the dead, I can be proud of it."
