History for the second time • Romney called to congratulate • Obama's victory speech: we will work together

Voting ballots for the U.S. presidential elections held today (Tuesday) have closed. The race between Democratic President Barack Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney has ended.

Although not all votes have yet been counted, there seems an overwhelming victory for President Barack Hussein Obama, who will continue for another term.

Obama delivered his victory speech in his campaign headquarters in Chicago.

"You have made me a better president, I learned from you," he addressed thousands of supporters, who responded with loud applause. "We have improved the economy and security and in our next term we will do even better."

"I want to thank all Americans who participated in these elections – wheteher they voted for me or Romney. I have congratulated Governor Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan for the campaign they conducted," Obama said with statehood and added: "In the coming weeks I will sit together with Romney to explore ways of cooperation" .

He explained the struggle between them in an original way: "We fought; we are very fond of this country. Romney chose to serve America through public service. This is a heritage which should be applauded."

Obama thanked his wife, his daughters and campaign staff.

Finally he said: "What holds our nation together is the belief that our future depends on mutual commitment. People around the world have come to America to be part of these values."

Maximum investment
As of late morning (Israel time), with nearly 90 percent of polling stations already counted, Obama leads by over a million votes: 303 electoral votes against 206 to Romney.

Romney earlier called Obama to congratulate him on his victory.

In his concession speech given to tens of thousands of supporters in Boston, Romney said: "I do not believe that there was ever such effort spent for elections in our party".

Romney thanked his family, supporters and candidate for vice president Paul Ryan, who he hinted as a future heir, for a possible race to the White House in 2016.

Romney also noted that he was "praying for Obama's second term to be successful and beneficial to U.S. citizens."

Donald Trump, the American billionaire who has spoken against Obama in the past, has already announced this morning that "the elections are phony."

The first polling stations closed early night in Kentucky and Indiana. However it took a long time before the entire voting process ended, since the latest polling stations in the State of Alaska, closed only at 07:00 am Israel time (Wednesday).

Florida broke records for voting, and the pressure caused state irregularities in some polling stations.

Samples did not surprise

During the night, the American media networks began to publish the results of the samples in order to see which of the two candidates will be given the Presidency.

According to CNN samples, the first sample of the night: Obama won Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts (Romney's state), District of Columbia, Illinois, Connecticut, Delaware, Rhode Island, New Jersey, New York, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania , Minnesota, Maryland, California, Hawaii, Ohio, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oregon, Nevada and Washington.

Further results also came from Florida, where Obama led by 63 votes.

Romney won Kentucky, West Virginia, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Georgia, Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama, Kansas, Louisiana, Nebraska, North Carolina, South Dakota, North Dakota, Texas, Wyoming, Mississippi, Utah, Arizona, Indiana, Idaho, Missouri and Montana.

Earlier Romney said: "We fought until the very end and on the possibility of losing; I have a family and life." According to him, he had not given much thought to the possibility of loss.

Obama spent the day in a basketball game which lasted four quarters of 12 minutes, and his team, which also included the Chicago Bulls star Scottie Pippen from NBA won.

He retreated with his family in Chicago during count time and waited for the result of his election in the headquarters nearby.

Mitt Romney also spent the night near his election headquarters and followed the reports from there.
