Russian President Vladimir Putin signed yesterday a law prohibiting employers to fire fathers of large families.
The law is designed to protect the livelihood of these families and boost the birth rate in Russia.
Under the new law, men who have three or more children cannot be dismissed, if they are the only source of income for the family.
This happens often in Russia, because a woman takes maternity leave for a period of 3 years!
Russian parliament voted for this law on October 26, and the Russian Federation approved it on October 31. The law came into effect last night.
