Hgray"l Steinman, "The Chazon Ish was not joking, only the Torah saves"
Harav Steinman explained to his associates on what base the Chazon Ish promised that "bombs will not fall in Bnei Brak" • and should one eliminate Torah study for reciting Tehillim in view of the situation?

In shadow of the 'Pillar of Defense' military operation in the south, many questions are brought before Hgray"l Steinman on how to proceed.
This week Hgray"l was asked by one of the Roshei Kollel, since it is impossible to say Tehillim in Kollel, unless they stop from learning a few moments before Mincha – should they stop learning and say Tehillim instead? Hgray"l replied: "Elimination is existence. Verses from Psalms are also Torah."
Already since תש"ס, with the return of terrorism to the streets, Hgray"l ordered to say every day after davening 3 Psalms – פ"ג, ק"ל, קמ"ב - when he himself is meticulous about saying these chapters with the public, after the morning prayers.
In addition, a letter was recently published by Reb Chaim Kanievsky, that the words of the Chazon Ish, zt"l which said that "no bombs will fall in Bnei Brak" are valid even today after his death. Hgray"l was asked on what base the Chazon Ish said this? Initially he said so because there are yeshivas in the city, but then he said it is not enough since then there weren't that many yeshivas in Bnei Brak.
And he explained it according to a Gemara in Shabbos י':ע"ב, where it is written: A person should always dwell in a city where there are yeshivas, since by being near a yeshiva his sins are less.
"We see that in a new city where there are fewer sins is guarded more, even though the difference between the Cadet and Sodom is only one year. In any case since Bnei Brak is a new city in relation to Tel Aviv next to it, it is more protected. Indeed, this alone would not guarantee that will nothing happen, and along with the blessing of the Chazon Ish Hashem guards Bnei Brak."
He continued and said: "The Steipler and the Poniviczer Rebbe reside in Bnei Brak" He brought the words of the Baal Haturim, "If there is one Tzaddik in the city, the Talmid Chacham guards from all evil."
Similar words were said by Hgray"l Steinman during the Gulf War, when not one scud missile landed in Bnei Brak, that it's just like the Baal Haturim said above, since Harav Shach and Harav Povarsky live in the city, and there is probably another Tzaddik, they have the power to guard 120,000 residents all around.
One of the associates says that his mother recalls when a bomb fell next to Argaman, on the border of Bnei Brak, and then the Chozon Ish said, "Argaman is not Bnei Brak". Harav Steinman answered: "The Chazon Ish was not joking, that’s what he felt, that if it was part of Bnei Brak, a bomb would not have fallen there."
The answer to all evil decrees: Torah
It is important to state that already a decade ago, Hgray"l publicized a letter, which is appropriate even in our times.
"It is known to all that Klal Yisrael's situation in our times, whether by the nations of the world, who lately their anti-Semitism throughout the world has grown, as well as the spiritual situation of Klal Yisrael which needs great mercy, and what should a person do to save himself, the answer to that is 'Torah', without Torah there is no Klal Yisrael, there is no world, there is nothing. If we strengthen in Torah Klal Yisrael has more strength, and there is more strength in the world, and only by doing so can we strive and continue."
"The power of Torah learning is unimaginable, and whoever reaches the rank of Talmid Chacham not only is he saved but he also has the influence that 40,000 people will not be harmed. The Baal Haturim says: If there is one Talmid Chacham amongst 1000, there is no need for a shield because the Talmid Chacham shields them from our enemies."
"Therefore we must learn Torah with all our strength, fill up as many benches in the Beis Mesdrash as possible, and learn more and more hours of Torah, in quantity as well as quality, to establish more places of Torah, another Yeshiva, another Talmud Torah and another Cheder, this is all for the existence of the world, and without Torah the world has no existence."
"This is the answer to all our troubles, as well as those who hate religion…and the anti-Semitism. The answer is 'Torah'. The more we will learn Torah, the more we will be shielded from harm."
"And if one is unable to learn Torah, he should support those who do. Even those who do learn Torah should support others who learn Torah."
"The more Klal Yisrael exalts, and their passion is greater, Hashem will help that Torah learners will not be harmed, and Klal Yisrael will go on, until Mashiach comes. But until then we must work hard that Klal Yisrael will have the passion to learn Torah, to add more and more Torah, to establish soldiers of Torah, and in that way we will continue to exist."
