The Next Generation: The first successful experiment of the 'magic wand'

Successful experiment with the magic wand. Israeli Defense Ministry, together with the U.S. Agency for Missile Defense completed today (Sunday) a round of testing and initial development of the magic wand.

This is the first systematic experiment system which was developed for the Ministry of Defense by Rafael and American Rit'eon company.

The system is intended to provide another layer of protection against missiles of short and medium range, thereby condensing defenses against missiles and rockets.

Magic Wand is supposed to protect the entire State of Israel, by a single number of sites which will be placed by launchers and systems that support it.

According to the plan, the system is supposed to intercept anything coming from a distance in excess of 70 km and is threatening to cause damage and casualties in Israel.

The role of the system is to intercept ballistic missiles and rockets from Lebanon to Tel Aviv.

It is also able to intercept cruise missiles and warheads of ballistic missiles, which the arrow systems fail to intercept into space.

The missile is based on innovative technology and will cost about a million dollars.
Defense Minister Ehud Barak, welcomed today the MOD, Rafael military industries and said that the ripening of the program will be a significant element for the layered defense program of the State of Israel from missiles, including the Arrow 2 and Arrow 3.

"Magic Wand" and Iron Dome. ""The great success of the Iron Dome batteries during the 'Pillar fo Defense' makes it clear beyond any doubt the immense importance of missile defense systems. The State of Israel leads the world in this field, thanks to Israel's defense industries and their people," Barak said.

'Choma' management were partners in today's experiment were, which is part of a principal research, development and technological infrastructure weapons (MOD) of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, together with the U.S. Agency U.S. Ballistic Missile Defense (mda).
