Barkat: "Jerusalem needs more high-level seminaries"

"Jerusalem needs more institutions for girls on a high level," said Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat at the inaugural ceremony of the seminary premises of Darkei Sarah, held in Givat Shaul Jerusalem, with Rabbi David Lau, Chief Rabbi of Modi'in, CEO of the Ministry of Education Mrs. Dalit Stauber, rabbis, public figures and hundreds of parents and students in the seminar.

The seminary, which was established only two years ago, is characterized in that it provides - for the first time in Jerusalem - Torah education on the highest level, with an emphasis on social values and an enhanced learning in sciences toward a full matriculation certificate.

The great success and growing demand forced the management of the institution to expand its doors and move it to a new and more spacious building.

Hgr"d Lau set the Mezuzah to the gate of the premises along with Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat and CEO of the Ministry of Education and the presence of leaders of Poalei Agudath Yisrael. Rabbi Hanoch Werdyger and Mr. Shlomo Lintzner.

In his words, Hgr"d Lau, as a father of a girl studying in the seminary, praised the educational staff which places an emphasis on instilling Yiras Shomayim and chinuch for the love of Mitzvos. "You are growing and learning in an educational conservatory of the first order," added the rabbi and said, "As a father of a student here, I know that you are given all the tools on the way to transcend in Fear of G-d and personal and professional success."

Director General of the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Stauber, noted that she herself is of Chassidic origin. Her mother was one of the first Bais Yaakov students in the institution in Eastern Europe and her participation at the event made her, she said, very excited. "Mrs. Sarah Schenirer founder of Bais Yaakov had groundbreaking vision," she said, "to build a generation of women with Yiras Shomayim who guard and are meticulous with commandments, along with training and education to support their families. This is exactly the blessed way of the seminary Darkei Sarah, walking in the path of the generator of the Bais Yaakov movement ".

Mayor Nir Barkat, who participated in the event throughout, noted the great importance he sees in the success of the seminary: "Jerusalem has a variety of different populations and a wide range of institutions. Jerusalem excels at a great variance and it is worthy that Jerusalem will also have such an establishment which holds much promise for studying therein. The verse says "From Zion Torah come forth, and the word of Hashem from Jerusalem", because what succeeds and what is happening in Jerusalem could be successful anywhere." The Mayor concluded with a promise to continue to escort the seminary and will make every effort to assist its continued promotion and development.
.
In conclusion, Harav Lintzner greeted the staff and founders of the seminary on the vision and effort invested in education for Jewish girls.
