For the first time in businesses: Digital kashruth certificate

Digital revolution in the religious council kashruth department in Ashdod: As part of the improvement and upgrading, the Chief Rabbinate and the Religious Council in Ashdod began operating kosher certificates which enable digital barcode scanning in the smart phone devices, 'Ashdod Net' website reports.

So far hundreds of digital certificates were handed out. According to the new arrangement, each business receives in addition to the regular certificate also a digital certificate to hang, which contains only a barcode.

The system, which is responsible for displaying the data, is called 'Kashruth checker', built by 'test code' company, and is intended to serve the business owners and visitors to the stores. The system provides updated information, online, on the details of the business kashruth.

By installing the application 'Kashruth checker' on the mobile device, anyone will be able to scan the barcode on the kashruth certificate and get all the relevant information of the business. The application is free to download on the various networks.

Chairman of the Religious Council of Ashdod, Rabbi Yosef Dahan says that Ashdod is a pioneer in the field of digital training. "For a long time the application has been reviewed and it produced reliable data along the way. Now, with one click you can get all the data. Digital certificates help prevent counterfeiting of kashruth certificates and if necessary - then even warnings about businesses in town. We are talking about an improvement and technological progress of the service we provide to all residents of the city."

Chief Rabbinate of Israel said that following the successful experience in Ashdod, kashruth departments in other cities in the country - such as Raanana, Bat Yam and others - started or are starting to adopt the service.
