'Ezra Umarpeh' chairman, Harav Elimelech Fuhrer, is the darling of doctors - many of whom rely on him blindly. Now it has become clear that the court considers him an authority which could take a decision even instead of doctors.

This story happens, as a result of an argument which broke out between a mother of a 6 year old child, resident of Elad, who demands that her son, in whose brain a cancerous tumor was discovered, will be given an alternative treatment, and physicians from Schneider hospital in Petach Tikva, who wish to give him chemotherapy. Following the debate, the mother smuggled her child last week from the hospital - and disappeared. Only two days later, when she turned to the U.S. Embassy, she was arrested by the police - and the case came to court.

The newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reports this morning about the case, relates the affair that began three weeks ago, when the child's brain tumor was discovered and he underwent a complicated surgery to remove it in the Medical Center Schneider. The doctors asked, as usual, to continue to care for the child by radiation and chemotherapy, to ensure that the tumor does not spread in the body.

But then the boy's mother told doctors that she refuses to continue these treatments because she fears they may cause more severe damage to her son.

Doctors ignored her and continued the treatment they outlined. Seeing so, the mother secretly escaped from Schneider with her son. The management of Schneider reported promptly to the welfare and police factors, and declared that this is a case of life saving, and that it requires their immediate intervention.

The Tel - Aviv police was able to locate the mother and son in the apartment of an acquaintance, after the mother turned to the American Embassy and asked to allow her to travel abroad with her son to give him medical treatment in the U.S.

The sensitive issue was transferred to the family court in Rishon LeZion and the latter turned to Harav Fuhrer, to voice his opinion on the most appropriate medical center which would bring healing to the child. Harav Firer looked into the medical material and met with the parents to hear their side.

The one who represented the mother, is the lawyer Yitzhak Hoshen, who told Yedioth Ahronoth: "The court tried in the most humane way to find the right solution for the child and shorten the distance which formed between the hospital and parents. Rabbi Fuhrer is known for his expertise and the family thanks him for the determination with which he took it into his hands. "

All parties involved are under great tension towards the decision and receiving the opinion of Rabbi Fuhr, which is expected to be delivered during the day.
