Thanks to cane - old man saved from death
An old man disappeared from his home in Lakewood in the evening and searches were followed throughout the night • The man was found in the woods nearby - just before freezing to death

An 85 year old man from Lakewood disappeared yesterday evening from his home, but was located thanks to his stick.
At midnight, the family decided to call the police and Haverim organization which set up a front command room and recruited dozens of volunteers who went out on a search after midnight.
R' Yaakov Yosef Volman, a volunteer in the Haverim organization, who spotted the old man said: "I was called to help at one in the morning, I got to the front command room had they supplied us with a picture of the old man, and a large flashlight, when we left they told us to look in courtyards.
"They warned us that the man may be in a harsh situation due to the cold outside.
"We conducted a round of searches and found nothing, we tried getting a helicopter through the police, but this was not possible. On the way back to the front command room I offered my partner in the searches to go through the woods and not through the road. We started walking down the dark path while shining the flashlight and suddenly I see a silver cane. I approached the stick and so I discovered the old man who took a wrong turn and fell.
"The man was freezing cold but woke up from his faint without a coat, I saw him beginning to move his legs and realized he awoke from his faint, I covered him with a blanket I brought with me, I talked to him and calmed him and called for help."
The old man was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
