Police central unit in the center, along with a team of 101 detective policemen arrested tonight (Wednesday) a suspect of robbing several banks in the central region in recent months, seconds after he robbed another bank, this time in Ness Ziona.
The suspect entered the Mizrahi Tefachot branch in Ness Ziona whilst armed with a pistol, fired in the air, approached a teller and announced: "This is a robbery, give me the money."
The composed teller gave the robber the bills, and when he came out of the bank, Police Unit of the Central Border District jumped up on him and arrested him.
It is no coincidence that the central unit border and a team of detectives were outside the bank, since they were there in ambush after a long investigation of robberies activity.
Police are investigating whether the same robber who robbed a dozen other banks in the region, in the last year and a half, and in one tragic case, shot and killed one of the banks security guard - Yaniv Engler z"l.
Commander Benzi Sau, commander of the Central District Police, said after the capture: "Four fighters managed to catch the robber, who has a history of robberies - including the murder of a security guard at the Bank in Beer Yaakov. We conducted a lengthy surveillance and we initiated activity. We built a profile according to his criminal activity, and with the help of the Central Unit fighters and police officers this operation was completed successfully.
"We are at the beginning of the investigation. There is a gag order on the details of the suspect and the ways of his performance. He is in our investigations offices. Upon completion of the investigation, in the coming days, we will bring the details to the public."
