Violence between associates of Yishai and Deri at Shas conference • "provocateurs will be removed immediately "

The Shas trio showing unity cannot seep into the ground. Yesterday, at a Sephardic conference at the Beit Yisrael Halls in Jerusalem, the place was transformed into an arena of confrontation between activist's camps of Eli Yishai and Aryeh Deri, to the dismay of the two leaders. The highlight was when the nephew of Minister Eli Yishai, who wore a poster supporting him was attacked and admitted to hospital

This decline has led the spokesmen of Deri and Yishai - Avraham Kreuzer and Yaakov Bezalel – to announce a joint statement to all Shas activists, which was launched to reporters at 1:15 am, to soothe the area.

"Rabbi Aryeh Deri and Interior Minister Eli Yishai are calling out together to all active members of the Shas movement: to act responsibly in cooperation and unity for the success of the movement in the coming elections. Provocateurs will be removed immediately, "the statement said.

This is not how Shas wanted the elections to run, when again and again every activist conference becomes a traffic arena of confrontation between the camps.

Deri also tried to calm the activists on Tuesday, his face expressed dissatisfaction, and he said: "Friends, enough. If you continue to interrupt, either I'll go out or you leave." But despite Deri's attempts – the area burned.

Even the security guards who were hired specifically and inspections conducted at the entrance hall - perhaps as a lesson due to the outbreaks of activists in Haifa - failed to prevent operators to sneak in posters and banners supporting Yishai or Deri for the movement's leadership.

Deri came on stage and said that we will respect the decision. "We are soldiers of the Maran," he said. "Whatever he decides we'll do gladly."

The two, along with third leader, Housing Minister Ariel Atias, smiled, hugged, kissed and danced together on stage, and they promised the audience a record number of mannndates. "We need to get to 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 mandates - and 21 as a bonus," exclaimed Eli Yishai.

But all this did not help. Shas's surface burned. The question is if the trio will manage to direct the passion to the exterior.
