Can one see a ray of light at the end of the tunnel in the long detention case of R' Yaakov Estreicher, a prisoner of Bolivia, through no fault of his own?

If all goes well, and the Bolivian court will not reject the hearing again - as it did on 27 previous occasions, it is expected that the Haredi businessman from Boro Park will appear today before the judges - for the first time since his arrest – 18 months ago.

Eldeber newspaper published reports that Estreicher will appear before three judges, who will discuss his continued arrest – with no criminal evidence.

According to lawyer Yimmy Montano, the judges will discuss three topics: one - claims filed by the judges who discussed the Estreicher's case, which involves covering material on 1427 pages; the second aspect - the facts and evidence, and the third aspect - Estreicher's health.

Last week the arrest of seven Bolivian government officials who tried to extort money from Estreicher, was reported. Activists working for his release expressed the hope that this time the court will indeed hold the hearing, and will not reject as it as did in the past.
