Approved by order: aid units will be established in the rabbinical courts

Constitution Committee approved today (Tuesday) the order for religious courts - establishment of support units.


The order will allow units to aid in the rabbinical courts, similar to operating aid units by the family courts, which donate to resolve disputes between the parties by peaceful means and by agreement. In addition, the units provide assistance to judges.

In May last year, the Knesset plenum approved an amendment to the rabbinical courts. The amendment authorizes the Minister of Justice to operate assistance units at the rabbinical courts. The order today approved by the minister determines that the first stage will be set up counseling units at the regional rabbinical courts in cities, Beer Sheva, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Jerusalem, Haifa, Tiberias - Safed and Rechovot. Next, aid units will be built in the cities of Netanya and Petach Tikva.

The order provides that in every court support units will operate to be deposited to handle emergencies, conflict resolution through therapy or family counseling or mediation, agreements on child custody and ensuring contact between child and parent, immigration arrangements and under age departure from the country, domestic violence, counseling concerning a report of a working social worker on procedures or opinion of the expert and the appointment of an expert by the court.

The order also states that for every composition of the Beis Din, will employ a social worker and a psychologist and a psychiatrist at every assistance unit.


As noted, the Committee approved the order unanimously.
