Satmar against Satmar "feeding treif against the Torah law"

Satmar Rebbe attacked his brother's slaughterhouse which does not check the tendons: "more than 18 percent of chickens are revealed as treif during examination"

Satmar against Satmar "feeding treif against the Torah law"

Every evening, after lighting a candle, the Satmar Rebbe carries out a speech on every day matters. Yesterday, 6th candle, The Rebbe associated the old days - the days of the Greek government – to our days, and called out crying: "our fellow Jews, brothers and our own flesh and blood are eating non-kosher foods."

The Rebbe referred to the fact that the kashruth authorities in the United States, even those who are considered mehadrin, do not check the tendons of the poultry, claiming that it is considered a severity which started with one kashruth authority, and everyone went after it, with no relevant reason.

The Rebbe said: "One thing the Kingdom of Greece sought, to forget the Torah teachings. How so? How does one make man forget? How did the Greek people plan on making the people sitting in Zion forget what has already been learned? With what technique and what means can one deplete the brain and understanding of a person?

"It was written by the 'Maor Shemesh': When one eats treif, impure foods, it contaminates the mind and the heart and makes you forget the Torah - even those already studied so far. Indeed, we find that the edge, the margins had secularized, who converted and joined the Greek corps, helped them teach others also "to forget the teachings of the Torah."

Since the slaughterhouse belonging to his brother's court in Williamsburg does not examine the tendons, the Rebbe said:

"Before I began talking, I struggled with myself incase people might say that I speak from personal goals and political intentions., And I remembered something that took place with my elders, the 'Kedushas Yom Tov', sitting in Sea Gate, and there were residents of the city who brought on their own rabbi and shochet to the city, and according to the method of the 'Kedushas Yom Tov, all of these actions were forbidden - and therefore, according to him, the slaughter of the above was treif.

"Indeed, to go out to the public gates and declare his slaughter as treif, might be interpreted as intended to extraneous considerations and political issues, in case the public say the slaughter is kosher, only the Rabbi careful to respect the teachings – causes the other slaughter to become treif, to strengthen and consolidate his position and grip with the inhabitants. But since he believes the slaughter was treif – he did not think what will they say, and went out openly to the public, without fear and awe, that the other slaughter is not kosher.

"Therefore, I stand behind my opinion, after another visit I made to the slaughterhouse, since those who do not investigate and check, cannot understand this: our fellows Jews, Jews of our own, are eating treif, treif according to Torah.

"Take pity on your souls and the souls of your descendants"

"In every Diaspora of Am Yisrael all kashruth authorities check the tendons intersection. In Eretz Yisrael, and all the places in Europe, this issue has spread throughout the public, and only here in America there are those hiding their eyes and making it easier for themselves. Spare your souls and the souls of your descendants. This issue must not be escaped.

"This week I visited the slaughter house again, and I saw with my own eyes: more than 18 percent of chickens are found treif during examination of the tendons intersection. Almost one in five chickens, and such poultry eaten - by five or six people, and are cooked in pots used to cook it and is eaten mostly by Jews – and the poultry is treif according to the Torah, the pots are treif, and what will be cooked in them later is also treif.

Hashem is witness that I have no interest in myself and have no income at all from slaughtered animals, other than to bring the nation of Israel to be careful with kashruth – that the meat and poultry should be kosher. We do not mean to glorify or honor any interest, other than kosher meat and poultry for us and our brothers the children of Israel."

In reference to rumors and allegations, that the issue is not similar from city to city and from country to country, and that it depends on which climate the chickens come from - said the Rebbe: "I was checking other places, here in the United States of America, and this is the case everywhere, when we check the tendons intersection of the chicken, we revealed significant percentage of treif. When one doesn’t – one cannot find, but the treif is treif."
