Fishmonger turned himself in: I attacked Rosenberg

Melech Schnitzler, a Satmar chasid and owner of a fish store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, arrived yesterday (Wednesday) to the police station, turned himself in and confessed: "I attacked Nachum Rosenberg with bleach spray."

On Tuesday, when Rosenberg was on his way home, Schnitzler attacked him near his shop. Bleach caused burns to Rosenberg's eyes and face, and he required medical treatment in the hospital. The police tried to locate the attacker, and dialed the home of Schnitzler and his shop, but there was no answer.

Rosenberg confirmed to the police that he identifies Schnitzler as the one who attacked him and as his father who also "starred" in one of his blogs.

Rosenberg also said that a year ago Schnitzler spat at him on the street. "I do not know what made him do that," he said about the attack last Tuesday.

Police attributed Schnitzler to a long line of offenses and is expected to stand for trial.

Victim, Nachum Rosenberg, a blogger on the Internet and Nayes line, is considered a red flag for the Satmar community and Chasidic Street, since he is the one who operated major media pressure on the General Attorney in Brooklyn, Charles Hynes, who did not prosecute Nechemiah Weberman, who was convicted this week of serious offenses. Some associates of Rosenberg said that Rosenberg gave more complaints about people suspected of similar crimes.
