A 44 year old resident of Avtin arrived this morning (Monday), at about 6:00, at the offices of 'Elisra', which deals in developing electronic warfare, on Hayarkon Street in Bnei Brak, jumped over the fence and came to the security position, where he attacked and fought with the security guard for about 40 seconds.

During the struggle, the suspect grabbed the security guard's weapon and fled the scene, leaving his dummy gun in the arena. Very large forces of police set up roadblocks and began widespread searching for the suspect.

The 24 year old security guard, a resident of Petach Tikva, returned fire, wounding the suspect - and he escaped. The security guard hit in the head during the struggle, and evacuated in mild to moderate condition to Ichilov Hospital.

After about an hour and a half of extensive searches by the various units of the police, an Ayalon mall security guard noticed a bleeding man hiding in the bushes.

He reported to the police, and after a short chase, special patrol unit police captured the suspect, a former ISA assistant. He was taken to Ichilov Hospital in mild condition.

Chief of Dan region, Commander Albert Ohayon said that the incident was not racially motivated, but a robbery. "The security guard and wounded thief were both wounded in a physical confrontation ensued, and not from the shot which was fired in the air"

Yisrael Gigi, from Hatzalah Bnei Brak who was called to the scene told B'Chadrei Charedim that the suspect was hit in his left hand. "After an hour and a half of searching, Patrol Police found him in Dan Ayalon Mall. He threw his weapon on the floor, and they jumped on him. The suspect also told that he had served 26 years in prison in the past."

Itzik Chovesh, a Hatzalah Gush Dan medic said: We treated the security guard who was a bit hysterical after the incident, but was conscious all the time, she said that a young Arab man confronted her grabbed her weapon, according to her she fired at him and he is injured, and he ran away. A few hours later, police arrested the suspect in the Dan Ayalon mall nearby.
