"Time" magazines Man of the Year: Obama

Man of the Year of the 'Time' magazine is president of the United States, Barack Obama, it was announced today (Wednesday) by Rick Stanjel, editor of the weekly.

The names of ten candidates who formed the basis for selection were published before, including the name of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, Malaya Yousuf, the Pakistani girl who went against the Taliban and Apple CEO Tim Cook.

The magazine publishes its Person of the Year for 85 years, since Charles Lindbergh was elected Man of the Year in 1927. It is chosen by the magazine editors.

Every year they try to determine who the man, the woman, the body or the idea that had the greatest impact. Person of the Year is one of the events that start the "season totals".

President Barack Obama, who was elected for a second term last month, has received the title of Man of the Year by Time magazine in 2008 when he was elected to his first term in the White House. Last year 'demonstrator' won the prestigious title, and the year before Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
