Solution to the saga? A special Beis Din will be set up soon to examine the claims of both parties to the case of Reb Chaim Halpern – a case which has stirred the Jewish streets in London.
The three rabbis who form the court will probably be: Rabbi Menachem Mendel Shafran, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Fuchs, Mo"tz in Ada Hahredit and Rabbi Pesach Eliyahu Falk, a Dayan in Gateshead, England.
The three rabbis which make up the court are neutral and do not lean to any party.
The decision to establish a special Beis Din comes after the parties understood that with no halachic decision, the case will not fall off the agenda.
It appears that the judges will come to London to hear the parties in the case and collect evidence. After six months at least, the decision on the case will be given.
There were initial attempts to involve the Av Beit Din of the Eideh Charedi, Hgri"t Weiss, but he contented himself with publishing a letter.
Despite the fact that within the community of Reb Chaim Halperin, who is in the center of the case, try to transmit "business as usual", last Sunday a demonstration was planned outside his home. A Jewish security company was placed in the area, to prevent a crowd of people.
The affair began several years ago, when Rabbi Chaim Halpern made it his business to make time for peace making between couples in the orthodox community in Europe in general and in London in particular. Recently, a woman, who was not pleased with the decision regarding her personal matter, published rumors against him, which have never been proven.
The rumors were widely distributed, after a group of women turned to a Jewish newspaper in London - published the story, and since then the winds storm to and fro in the Jewish community
