Israeli police arrested tonight in Bnei Brak two young men in their 20s, suspected of attacking the editor of Hapeles, Nati Grossman. The two are being investigated now, and at 12 noon will be brought - by Moriah Region investigators for remands at the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court. According to police, more arrests are expected.

The arrests were made shortly after 2:00. A police detective car arrived at Ponovicz Yeshiva in Bnei Brak, and inside three policemen. They entered the Pick houses dormitory, where they planned to arrest a suspect for attacking Hapeles editor, Nati Grossman, on Thursday night in Jerusalem.

The first suspect who was arrested, in his 20's, resident of Jerusalem and Ponovicz Yeshiva student for the past five years, was at that time in the hallway, he saw the police and fled to another room. He broke the window and fled the scene.

Meanwhile, police detained a young man and asked him for his ID. After seeing that he is not the suspect they sought, they heard a shout, "he escaped". The police entered the room; they saw a broken window and a youngster who has fled to another building. Two officers ran after him, and a third officer remained outside to guard - and the boy was arrested.

The suspect was placed into the vehicle Dan Regional Police detective car, and then was taken for linkup with a police car of Moriah Jerusalem District Police, which is investigating the case of the Grossman's attack - where he was wanted for questioning.

Another suspect, also in his 20's, was arrested later on. The suspect is not known at the Ponovicz Yeshiva.

On Friday morning, shortly after 1:00 am when Nati Grossman, editor of Hapeles, arrived at his home in Bayit Vegan in Jerusalem, he was attacked by two unknown assailants who appeared orthodox, and was hit in the face and fingers. He was taken to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, where his condition was defined as mild, he was checked and treated. He was released before Shabbos, suffering broken fingers and mild bruises.

Jerusalem Police opened an investigation into the circumstances of the incident. Police also came to the hospital to collect evidence. According to Grossman, the attack was carried out on journalist rival, but according to the police spokesman, they are investigated a number of other investigative directions.

As mentioned, two suspects in the attack were arrested tonight, and they were brought to the police station in Jerusalem, where they were taken in for questioning.

"Why was the offender arrested during the night, and was not summoned for questioning as in any similar case?" one of the Yeshiva students asked the arresting officers, but the question remained hung in the air at the Yeshiva.

A senior Jerusalem police said in response to B'Chadrei Charedim that due to the sensitivity of action and attempt to prevent the escalation of the camps as soon as possible, detention during the night was a surprise, to surprise the suspects and prevent their disappearance.

"To voice their protest and vigorous condemnation against violence"

After months of violence against rabbis and public figures, due to the Lithuanian public split, this morning (Sunday) Yated Ne'eman newspaper published an impeachment ad, on the front page of the newspaper.

Under the heading "protest and vibrant condemnation," are the following: "We were asked by Maranan and Rabbis sages of Israel Shlit"a to voice their protest and condemnation vigorously against severe violence, verbal and physical, that were made in recent months against Torah figures, public figures and politicians, by low life's. These acts the opposite of the way of Torah and as it is know has fallen stranger violence in our camp.

From the Rashi interpretation it is easy to understand, that the violence has crossed a red line, and the fact that the attack on the editor of Hapeles, which took place on that same evening against a mashgiach at the Ohr Yisrael Yeshiva, Rabbi Goldwasser, gained headlines is shocking.

During the past few months, both Reb Yitzchak Roth 'Yated' editor, and Reb Yisrael Friedman, editor of the Shabbos supplement, were attacked. A few weeks ago, physical abuse was made towards the Mayor of Bnei Brak-Yaakov Asher. The peak was when the mashgiach of Ohr Yisrael Yeshiva in Petach tikva, Hagaon Reb Pinchas Yitzchak Goldwasser, was attacked last Thursday night, on the same night that the former editor of Yated was attaxked at the entrance to his home.

Meanwhile, a report on the front page news of injustices on the draft. According to the title, which appears on the front page of the paper, in view of warnings received from the Roshei yeshiva, and the opinion of the Gedolei Yisrael, it was decided in light of the evidence of severe harassment and repeated problems at the recruitment office, to examine the ways how to work with military leaders, including examining the possibility to order yeshiva students not to appear in the recruitment centers. Moreover, by the way, there is full coordination with the Vizhnitz Rebbe, who also reached similar evidence.
