Calbotek investigator presented to the Rabbis: Shocking video at slaughterhouse abuse
Chief Rabbinate held a hearing following a Colbotek investigation at the Red Red slaughterhouse • rabbis cannot remove the kashrus, but determined: If the supervisor will see abuse - disqualify the animal

Chief Rabbinate held today (Monday) a heated debate following a Colbotek investigation the Red Red slaughterhouse,- the slaughterhouse owned by Tnuva, which revealed serious abuse of animals. After discussion, it was decided to stricter regulations, but the kashrus was not disqualified.
Ronen Bar, researcher and active at the 'anonymous' association, presented to the rabbi's videos recorded with a hidden camera during his job at the slaughterhouse. Some records were more shocking than those aired in the investigation, but were banned for broadcast.
Following the discussion, which included the Rabbi of the Red Red slaughterhouse and Tnuva Rabbi the following message was written: "Our holy Torah commands us to be compassionate toward animals and prohibits us from causing them sorrow."
Since the Chief Rabbinate has no authority to ban the kashrus of the slaughterhouse, the rabbis established clear procedures to prevent such abuse cases in the future. Among other things, the rabbis ruled that if the supervisor will notice abuse – he will have to disqualify the animal.
Abuse case in Red Red 'was revealed earlier this month. In a Colbotek program, documentation was presented how employees electrify calves dozens of times, in different parts of the body, including the head. Collapsed calves were dragged on the ground by forklifts. Lambs were hit over the head and body repeatedly. Also workers were documented standing and stomping on lambs, lying on them or riding them, and throwing them in the air.
Following a complaint filed criminal investigation is underway against Tnuva
