Eichler: Reject Kadima's 'Avreichim Campaign'

The campaign of the Kadima party, attacking the haredim under the slogan "350 NIS to soldiers, 3400 NIS for yeshiva students" has angered the Yahadut Hatorah chairman MK Yisrael Eichler, and he quickly turned to the election committee and its head judge, Elyakim Rubinstein, demanding to disqualify the false campaign.

Eichler wrote: "Kadima is releasing an inflammatory and false slogan that: 350 NIS to soldiers 3400 NIS to yeshiva students. From today even the bus companies are required to publish these inflammatory signs, in spite of the ultra-Orthodox passengers, who are a huge bulk among users of public transport.

"Beyond the incitement, there is a blatant number lie '3400 NIS which a Kollel student receives, something which is unfounded. The purpose of advertising is to arouse hostility and strife against Orthodox Jews called in mass slang, 'avreichim'. This may result in hatred and violence, and is more severe than the slogan 'no debt no rights', which you rightly disqualified – since it incites against Arabs.

"This propaganda of Mofazis inciting the public - that does not know the difference between the allowance a soldier receives beyond current expenses for his income and livelihood, and health care costs and the civil training, and all retirement benefits which accompany him, between the tiny proportion of 800 NIS which a married kollel student with children – with no extra addition to the kollel which receives the government budget, on which it says, "Do not fight the bad eye bread."

"Secondly, a married soldier gets paid three times the amount which a married yeshiva student receives, and again without taking into accounts the civilian expenditure (food, health, transportation and studies) of holding the soldier.

"The mere directing propaganda against a hated and excluded public, in a large part of the public capsule against the ultra-Orthodox throughout the year in most of the media, is inciting racism., Even if the yeshiva students, are not members of one race, the very use of the soldiers on the one hand and Jews on the other hand, is dangerous incitement to murder.

"The use of a soldiers in mass incitement is dangerous not only haredim. Accordingly I would like to request to reject the anti-Semitic propaganda of Kadima," Eichler concludes the letter.
