Kadima will continue the yeshiva student's campaign: "This is not incitement"

Tonight (Wednesday) the Election Committee decided to reject the request of the chairman of Yahadut Hatorah MK Yisrael Aichlr, to disqualify Kadima's campaign.

Recalling, Eichler sent a letter earlier this week to the Committee Chairman Judge Elyakim Rubinstein, arguing that the campaign calling to compare the wages of avrechim to soldiers is incitement and the data contained in it are not correct.

In an explanation Kadima sent to the Elections Committee, claiming that "The campaign does not include negative messages and is not directed against public yeshiva students but for the good of the soldiers." And that "it is clear that this is not racism as yeshiva students are not a 'nation' but an integral part of the people of Israel. It should be noted that MK Eichler himself claims in the request that the 'yeshiva students are not members of one race, and that itself is sufficient to remove the outright claim of racism.

In the explanatory notes attached to his decision, Judge Rubinstein wrote that "the issue of service of yeshiva students in the IDF is a public issue of primary importance. The call to compare conditions of IDF soldiers to that of married yeshiva students is the context of legitimate public discourse and is not incitement against Jews and Orthodox and certainly not anti-Semitic."

Kadima rused to bless: "Kadima will continue to lead the fight for IDF soldiers. There is no reason that there should not be equality of burden - that first will be equality of money.

"IDF soldiers protect Israel with their bodies and they deserve a lot more than a few pennies or pocket money, surely more than those who do not serve and at the same time receive from the state much more. It's not right, not fair, and we will continue to fight for it."
