Why is Bobov shaken by the businessman who won 77 thousand dollars?

Brooklyn haredi community is shaken by the story of an activist who suddenly won the lottery, the amount which corresponds to the amount of funds raised for the sick.

It all began when a 'Maor Eynayim' Rachmastrivke yeshiva student in Jerusalem, who is an orphan, got engaged last summer. But, whilst dealing with the preparations for the wedding, a tumor was discovered.

It was decided to fly him urgently to a medical center in Boston, where he is given the best medical care for his type of cancer.

New York yeshiva students recruited for the chassan – an orphan – and patient, to raise funds for his treatment. One person, who works for a living, who the case touched his heart, decided that since the chassan has no father to look after him, then he will be the one to devote himself as a father.

When the patient arrived in Boston, the man spent several weeks with him, cut his working hours and reduced the quota of leisure time and those devoted to his family.

He did everything to accompany the patient throughout the duration of treatment.

Eve of the huge lottery
The activist also organized a fundraising dinner last month which bore the slogan 'Koli Shema', in which he managed to raise 77 thousand dollars to finance the treatment, which is still not enough to cover the size of the expenses.

One of the trends in the U.S., known to many Chassidic courts, is a method of a lottery in an amount is collected from the participants, and a lottery is held for half the funds, the second half is devoted to institutions.

A raffle ticket costs $18 per participant. At the lottery, a participant receives the amount accumulated in half and the second half is dedicated to the benefit of the institutions.

The Bobov community set the lottery for the last day of Chanuka.

The activist was asked - by a rotated fund raiser at the synagogue a few days before the lottery, to buy a ticket and he responded and pulled 18 (ח"י) dollars.

Indeed the activist won half the funds - and the amount of 77 thousand dollars in hard cash.

The exact amount he raised for the patient.
