The Shomrim organization of the Orthodox London succeeded in exposing a massive fraud of credit cards.
Volunteers of the Shomrim organization of London foiled a gang of massive credit cards fraud gangsters in Golders Green in London.
It all started when last Thursday an elderly Jewish man received a phone call from a woman who identified herself as a clerk from the HSBC bank in London.
The clerk told the man that the identifying details of his credit card have leaked, and that the Bank will send a courier to collect the credit card information in order to update them with new details.
The clerk told the elderly man to call the police and inform them about the case.
The wife of the man listened to the conversation and noticed that the clerk remained on the line when her husband allegedly tried to call the police and inform them of the card information leak. Instead of the police response an answering machine answered which requested the card no., identifying information and PIN credit card.
The woman then phoned the Shomrim. The shomrim offered to the couple to put in envelope old credit cards which have expired and to give it the messenger of the bank, when it comes to their home.
Meanwhile unmarked police cars, and Shomrim volunteers waited for the bank messenger.
One of the police hid in the elderly couple's home and documented the envelope transfer and caught the messenger, a young man of 27.
Police said the gang is made up of people from Eastern Europe and South America who have marked hundreds of elderly families.
A Jewish woman who lives in London was the victim last month of a gang who managed to get 20 thousand pounds from her account.
The leaders of the Shomrim warn the public of providing personal information over the phone and call on the public to call the hot line numbered 03,009,991,234 in any suspicious case.
