On Erev Shavuos, two years ago, severe clashes between ultra-Orthodox extremists and riot police forces were reported at the neighborhood of Meah Shearim in Jerusalem - to protest the removal of graves which took place then in the hospital, Barzilai in Ashkelon.

Sunday night, two days after the festival, police arrested six haredim - on suspicion of throwing stones at police. Some of the detainees claimed during interrogation that they were just standing with a group of onlookers at Bar Ilan intersection, and did not lift a hand or stone. Later, the court also denied the acts attributed to the police.

One of those arrested that night, was an avrech in his 20's, the son in law of a public figure known in the Haredi sector.

Arguments and attempts to explain during the investigation and in court that he was not throwing stones at police - were unsuccessful. The police strongly said they have testimony of a police officer who was in the arena that night, and saw him participate in the event.

Attorney Yair Nehorai and family of the detainee tried in every way to prevent legal advances in his portfolio - but to no avail.

After several months an indictment was filed against the yeshiva student charging him with two offenses: participation in the riots, assaulting a police officer in an aggravated manner. The indictment was based on witnesses for prosecution, "Eiden and Nir, Maayan Unit Jerusalem."

This morning (Sunday), was due to take place a discussion on the matter of the avrech for sentencing.

But last Thursday, there was a dramatic change in the legal case against him. Despite police evidence presented by the police as 'strong evidence' - the indictment was dismissed due to insufficient evidence.

In a statement signed by Yuval Lindenberg, a representative of the Attorney General Attorney's Office of the Jerusalem district, it says that the lack of evidence, including - material which came on behalf of Yair Nehorai, a lawyer for the avrech, the state announced they are taking back the indictment, and the avrech and his family breathed with relief.
