The complainant's father in the Weberman affair: "I do not forgive those who gossip about me"

The complainant's father in the Weberman affair: "I do not forgive those who gossip about me"

"Since a few people are inciting against me - not by law or Din Torah, and not by Daas Torah, and they are unjustifiably ruing my life, I feel obliged to reveal the following things: I had no part in the delivery against Rabbi Nehemia Weberman."

So writes the complainant's father on the Nehemiah Weberman case, emphasizing again and again that he had no connection in testifying against Nehemiah Weberman, a Satmar Hasid, in any form whatsoever. "As everyone knows I did all I can do to prevent the processes which have brought about terrible blasphemy."

The background to the letter is threats and harassment which the family absorbed, since Weberman was convicted at the Brooklyn Court with 59 charges of indecent assault. The threat against the family comes, apparently, from the Satmar community factors, where Weberman worked in the treatment of drop out youth.

In the letter writes the father of the complainant that in the Central investigation in which he was questioned he was careful about every word, "that it will not amount to anything bad. Indeed," he writes, "all content of words were good. In reality my statement did not cause anything to blame Nechemia Weberman.

"I am ready to appear before any Jewish Beis Din and let them find out if there is any hint of guilt in me," says the father, adding that after the publication of the letter he will not forgive anyone who will speak about his involvement in the alleged delivery of Nehemiah Weberman.

"After this revelation, in which I testify that I had no relevance to the above and I am ready to face any court in the world to prove the righteousness of my ways, and yet they still talk about me slander and gossip, applies to what is brought in Shulchan Aruch that defamation has no global forgiveness, and live alone for fear of the law."

The father signs the letter with the following words: "I have now done my duty to announce that I did nothing or nothing at all against our holy Torah opinion, G-d forbid. I did my part- and 'Hashem in his good will do His part'."
