Legendary shack destroyed • "Here R' Ele fed the cat"
In the Knesset Hizkiahu yeshiva in Rechasim, they parted from the legendary shack which housed the Beis Midrash in the first years of the yeshiva • For what was the hut used over the years? And why was it destroyed?

The legendary shack of Yeshivas Knesset Hizkiyahu in Rechasim, which was used by the yeshiva, its founders and heads - was completely destroyed in the last storm, as a result of the stormy weather.
The hut was brought from Sweden and others like it were the first structures used in the yeshiva in its early years in the village.
The hut which collapsed contained the Beis Midrash, and on the floor beneath was the dining room.
Adjacent barracks were used to house students, and in those huts Torah and Mussar were taught by the Mashgiach Hagaon R' Eliyahu Lopian zt"l and the Rosh Yeshiva Hagaon R' Eliyahu Mishkovsky zt"l.
One of the graduates of the yeshiva tells Behadrey Haredim: "The famous picture of R' Ele feeding the cat and performing 'He has compassion for all His creatures', was taken in those same barracks. One who walked between the sheds could hear the deep voice of Harav Mishkovsky in a Shiur or Mussar shmuz, could have imagined R' Shalom Schwadron who would come to Kfar Chassidim every month of Elul and was in ta'anis dibbur. "
Later the yeshiva moved to a new complex nearby, but the yeshiva management decided to preserve the sheds as rooms for lessons and as a place for Tefilla for the Yeshiva Ketana. Later on, when a separate structure was built for the Yeshiva Ketana - the place served as a Shiur room for the 'Kibbutz' talmidim.
In recent years, the place was not in use altogether, but the management did not evacuate the sheds for great sentimental value they provided to alumni of the yeshiva.
