Snow abuse video: Police opened an investigation

Jerusalem Police are investigating the abuse video which has circulated on the Internet, showing Arab youths harassing two Toldos Avraham Yitzchak chassidim who walked back last weekend from the Western Wall.

Jerusalem District spokesman Shmulik Ben Ruby said this morning that police were checking the video, and "are trying to locate the subjects involved."

Yesterday the video was publicized, showing the two men attacked near the Damascus Gate by a group of young Arabs. The Arabs attacked the two ultra-Orthodox with snowballs, threw off their hats, while cursing and yelling at them.

"Dozens of Arabs surrounded us and began throwing snowballs," said one of the victims. "They played with our hates, threw them to the ground and gave us punches and kicks in the face and back. We were two against fifty and there was nothing we could do."

He also said: "I was sure I will not get out of this alive. I was soaked to the bones from the snow they threw at me and surrounded by Arabs and nobody helped." Eventually the two were able to escape without permanent damage.

The boys chose not to file a police complaint because "we don’t think it will help", as they put it.

The video documentation posted on the Internet with the abuse photographed by young Arabs led to many comments, most of them angry.
