David Fotzsky, 71, and his wife, Rachel, z"l, a pair of orthodox vacationers from Toronto, Canada, were murdered at their resort in Florida.
The holiday resort, Hallandale beach, located just north of Miami Beach, where there is pleasant winter weather, is a target on the cold winter days in the U.S. and Canada - especially in the winter break, starting from the beginning of the Christian year for a whole month - for the wealthy orthodox.
Last Thursday, resort vacationers were shocked to discover that a pair of ultra-Orthodox vacationers from Toronto were robbed and murdered at their resort. It was after the couple did not come to the event in the local community. A neighbor went to check on the friendly favorite, and to her amazement, she discovered that there is disorder in the room, and the couple were found lying dead on the floor in a huge pool of blood.
The police who were called to the crime scene revealed that the two were robbed and brutally stabbed to death.
Credit cards, passports, and valuables were missing.
Neighbors at the resort said that they were a pleasant Orthodox couple married four years ago, and since have been arriving each year on the cold winter days to the apartment in the resort.
Mitaskim and Chesed Shel Emet organizations acted to prevent degrading of the dead. The couple's bodies were flown to Toronto, Canada on Motzei Shabbos, where the funeral will be held today.
