The world continues to follow the growing tension in the Middle East, following the air strike in Syria.

According to Lebanese News Agency, Naharnet, the U.S. warned Syria today (Thursday) not to transfer weapons to Hezbollah. "Syria should not add to the instability in the area by transfer of arms to Hezbollah," Ben Rhodes, a senior in U.S. defense, was quoted.

Meanwhile, the Syrian state television said that Syria sees Israel and its allies responsible for the results of the Israeli attack. "We have the right to protect our sovereignty," they said. Russia has also joined the condemnation, and says the attack is 'violence without provocation', which forms a violation of the UN Charter.

Meanwhile, Syria submitted a formal complaint to the UN about the air strike carried out in its territory yesterday, allegedly by Israel. The complaint filed to the commander of UN forces in the Golan Heights, who was summoned to a meeting with the authorities, said that Israel violated the separation of forces agreement between the two countries as determined in 1974.

Syrian Foreign Ministry turned in an official letter addressed the National Security Council and the UN, to protest the "failure of the UN Security Council and negligence in its role, when it did not give warning of the Israeli attack." Syria hinted at the "willful blindness" of the UN Security Council and noted in the letter "the dangerous Israeli attack undermines the stability of the Middle East and threatens international peace and security."

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon expressed "deep concern" about reports of the attack in Syria, and called on the parties to respect the sovereignty of states. Regarding Syria's complaint, his spokesman issued a notice that the UN Interim Force in Golan Heights did not see Israeli fighter planes which penetrated Syrian territory, due to severe weather conditions.

Syrian ambassador to Lebanon, Ali Abdul Karim Ali, assured: "Syria is already planning the response to the Israeli attack, which will come by surprise." In an interview with a Hezbollah owned site, the ambassador said that "Syria will choose the time and place, the blow will be difficult and painful to the Zionist enemy."
