Tea pouring offender was convicted a second time: the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court sentenced Israel Lederman, 77, with five months of community service, for spilling hot tea on a left-wing activist 5 years ago.

Lederman sat in prison in the past for exactly the same offense. The victim then was former Knesset member Yael Dayan, and subsequently he was sent to three years in prison.

The relatively light sentence now comes in a plea bargain. The judge said that he decided to accept it only because of his medical condition and the difficulties of evidence.

Behind Lederman, who was active in 'Kach', is another prison sentence for killing a Palestinian in 1978. He claimed then that he acted out of self defense, but the military court sentenced him to ten years in prison. Former Chief of Staff Rafael Eitan commuted his sentence to three years imprisonment.
