Report: Rabbi Metzger pocketed $ 3 million
According to a report in Yedioth Ahronoth, Metzger is suspected that pocketed three million dollars • demanded and received payment for attending the ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, NIS 300 thousand • allegedly took bribes in exchange for help in the process of conversion, kashrut and Marriage Registration • proposed to state witness: "Take the case on yourself and I'll give you a million dollars"

Metzger case: former Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Yona Metzger suspected he pocketed a sum totaling three million dollars, reported this morning (Sunday), "Yediot Aharonot".
According to suspicions, the newspaper reports, the Rabbi turned contributors to the soup for brokerage amount to 50 percent.
So too the Rabbi charged a fee for attending events and, allegedly, even received payment for attending the ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising of $ 300 thousand shekels.
Metzger also suspected of driving to charge individuals in exchange for help in the process of conversion, marriage, kashrut and appointments.
Metzger allegedly bought through bribes, apartments, and hid some of the money with his relatives and at his home in between sefarim.
As has been reported in B'Chadrei Charedim, Metzger recently met with the witness and offered to take on the allegations in the case, according to a newspaper report in exchange rabbi offered him a huge sum of one million dollars.
The witness had recording devices connected to his body and the offer was documented.
Rabbi Yona Metzger was arrested two weeks ago on suspicion of bribery, money laundering, and fraud. On Tuesday, he was released to house arrest for 15 days under restrictive conditions.
