Anti-Semitism in Rome "may result in serious consequences"
Three pigs' heads were sent to the local Jewish community • President of the Conference of European Rabbis, "should not underestimate the anti-Semitism"

Storm in the Jewish community in Rome: Three pigs' heads were sent in sealed packages to the Great Synagogue of Rome, the Embassy of Israel and the Jewish Museum this past weekend.
The packages were opened by the security forces, were shocked to find in them pigs' heads.
The Conference of European Rabbis said the incident because it condemns the violation of the Jewish community - a few days before Holocaust Memorial Day , even though this injury only symbolic , the president of the conference , Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt , called on the authorities in Italy not to make light of the incident , because every act of anti-Semitic - symbolic or political - could have serious consequences that can harm the safety and security of local Jews , as happened last week in Kiev Ukraine, the stabbing of a Jewish youth.
The conference also noted its concern about the continuing deterioration of the security situation in Ukraine , due to the escalating conflict between supporters of the opposition and the government, after which there have been two serious physical attacks on Jews who innocently synagogue last two weeks.
Goldschmidt added that the state of security chaos constitutes a serious danger to the Jewish community, and called on the authorities to provide adequate security arrangements for the community.
Much of Rome and vice president of the Conference of European Rabbis, Rabbi Shmuel Di Siena, said tonight (Saturday) that strict security arrangements customary institutions of the Jewish community in Rome did not allow the opening of the package in which the pig's head, and that he learned about it only this morning.
Rabbi D - Siena noted that he joins the call of Rabbi Goldschmidt authorities in Rome and throughout Europe, not to make light of the Anti Semitic - even though they are symbolic. "However, we are here in Rome feel secure, and thank security services allow us active community life - under strict security adequate."
