Kiryat Yoel: Yankel and Sheindl return to play together

Kiryat Yoel: Yankel and Sheindl return to play together

Amusement park managers "Ruach Hachayim" (Spirit of Life) established in Monroe with separation between boys and girls - will be forced to destroy the partition (separation wall), following a deal signed by campus administrators with civil rights organizations in New York.

Civil rights organizations in collaboration with the government, decided last week that the park playground which was set up last year in Kiryat Yoel in Monroe, and where there is a separation between boys and girls, could not continue to operate in this manner.

From now on, the park will be under the supervision of a representative of civil rights, who will ratify that the park indeed complies with requirements.

As recalled, this park was established in Kiryat Yoel with special funding of the mayor, and has a fence separating the girls' and boys' field. The girls play where there are red swings, while the boys play on the side of swings painted blue.

In December, civil rights organizations filed a lawsuit against the management of the park for gender discrimination, and following the agreement reached – they canceled the claim.

Donald Nicole, who represents the residents of Kiryat Yoel, said that the park does not maintain discrimination between boys and girls, and that park managers have agreed, as part of a plea bargain, to supervision by representatives of the law to be held each summer for three years, and will include two unannounced visits to the park, to ensure that there is no discrimination.

There are differences of opinion among residents of Kiryat Yoel in Monroe, one of the residents, who asked to remain anonymous told Behadrey Haredim: "The extremists in Kiryat Yoel are getting more radical, it's just unreal, it can not be that a mother who goes with her children to the park will not be able to keep an eye on the three year old boy along with 4 -year-old girl, because the 3-year-old boy will have to play in the boys' playground. This is nowhere else in the world, not even in Kiryat Toash in Montreal who are considered the most extreme."
