Israel: three eviction orders for 'Lev Tahor'

On Friday, Canada's immigration police issued a deportation order for three members of Lev Tahor arrested last Wednesday, the three will stay in custody until their embarking on a plane to Israel.

Immigration Police refused to release the three on bail for Shabbos, arguing that deportation orders have been issued previously against the three. Attorney Gudi Maman representing the three asked the judge to release them on bail until their return to Israel, but as stated the judge refused.

This is Avraham Kabaz Kashani, 39, a father of 10 children against whom a deportation was ordered in 2007, for seven years he managed to avoid the immigration authorities, a week ago he was caught and arrested. Kashani said during the hearing to the judge that he did not escape anywhere, was not hiding, nor changed his name to avoid the authorities, "I knew that when they would want to take us they will find us at the end so there was no point."

The judge was not convinced that Kashani will suddenly begin to obey the laws and refused to release him from detention. Among the three detainees in Toronto is also Adele Malka, 30 years old, a mother of nine children against whom a deportation order was issued in 2002, as well as an avrech of 19, father of three, who whom an eviction notice was issued, the last two can still appeal the deportation but in the meantime are in custody.

Last Wednesday the immigration police raided the Lev Tahor chassidus and arrested six members who stayed in Canada illegally, their children were taken to foster homes and were later released after the intervention of the welfare authorities.

This Tuesday the family court will decide the fate of the children who fled with their parents to Guatemala. Lev Tahor already understand that Canada is no longer a haven for them and their people have been searching frantically for a place of exchange for the group.
