Politicians Parade last night (Monday) at Maimona events across the country.
Maimona recently became an opportunity for politicians to demonstrate kinship and rake in profits.
Last night, immediately after the end of the holiday, the celebration in Elad led by mayor Yidsrael Porush, was attended by three presidential candidates: MK Reuven Rivlin, Likud MK, Binyamin Ben-Eliezer of the Avodah party and Meir Shitrit from Hatnua.
Event began at 22:00 in the sports hall on Avtalion Street attended by Knesset members, mayors and other officials headed by the mayor's father MK Meir Porush. Thus also participated, Housing Minister Uri Ariel.
Another major event held in Ashdod led by Shas Council President participated ChACHAM Shalom Cohen and the Rishon Lezion Hgr"y Yosef. So too were representatives of the movement and members of the Knesset, led by chairman Aryeh Deri.
Preceding event by Aryeh Deri at his home in Har Nof, was attended by President Shimon Peres, Hgr"s Cohen, Rishon Lezion, Hgr"d Yosef and more.
Rishon Lezion Hgsr"m Amar also held an event at Mivtar Hill Synagogue in Jerusalem. President attended the event alongside Mayor Nir Barkat.
For the first time Hgrs"m wrapped himself in a golden cloak which he used for the first and last time when he was appointed as Rishon Lezion.
Then he was careful not to use the cloak due to dignity of Harav Ovadia and for being the same as his robe of the Rabbi zt"l. Now, after his death, the Rishon Lezion wrapped himself in the cloak for the first time.Photography: Yossi Klein and Yishai Dricks
