Williamsburg: New York Police Department raided last night (Tuesday) the Williamsburg neighborhood and arrested four yeshiva students, members of Shomrim. The detainees are suspected of beating a young black on racial grounds.

Taj Patterson, a young black man 22 years old, complained that on his way home on Sunday December this year, on Flushing Street in the neighborhood was attacked by a dozen ultra-Orthodox.

Patterson said that one of the groups punched him and pinned him to the wall when his friends encouraged him. He was helped by a passing bus driver.

The Daily News ran the story, reports that the introduction of Evelyn Keyes told that she stopped the bus and went to the group who surrounded the young man on his back on the floor writhing in pain.

He told her he could not see and he has trouble breathing. An ambulance arrived on the scene took him to the Woodhall hospital with a torn retina and cuts and bruises to his knees and ankles.

According to police reports Peterson was in shock and did not respond to the environment.

After the publication of the attack in the media, local community leaders condemned the attack. Police are looking for additional suspects in the affair.
