Baruch Dayan Haemes: Mourning in Boro Park neighborhood of Brooklyn: On Friday Hgh"tz Rabbi Yosef Tosig of Balad zt"l passed away, after years of suffering of suffering anguish and fighting a malignant disease. He was 66 years old at his death.
During the past months his condition worsened and many prayed for his recovery, but on Friday close to Shabbos he passed away.
The deceased was born in Israel on 28th Tishrei תש"ח to his father Hgh"tz Rabbi Yechezkel Yosig zt"l and his mother Mrs Sarah Hinda.
During his youth he learned at Sanz. He was a beloved student of the Shea Chaim of Sanz and was close to his son the Rebbe. He also delivered shiurim at Sanz in Jerusalem and at various Sanz communities worldwide.
The Balad Rebbe zt"l led his Beis Midrash and congregation in Boro Park and many came to him for advice and blessing.
He was a tremendous genius and spoke in a way that fascinated his audience, and many flocked to hear his sermons. He edited and published the books of his father Tiferes Yechezkel.
During his visits to Israel he was warmly welcomed at the homes of Admorim and Rabbanim – with whom he was in contact.
He left a beautiful generation. One of his sons is the singer Shlomo Tosig from America.
His brothers are Reb Shmuel Tosig zt"l of Toldos Shmuel and his brother Reb Aharon Tosig.
His funeral left on Erev Shabbos at 15:00 New York time from his Beis Midrash in Boro Park, with the participation of the Sanz Klausenberg Rebbe, Bobov and Zvhill-USA and more.
