Toronto: Armed barricaded himself next to Beis Yaakov

Horror gripped on Thursday morning at the Beis Yaakov school in Toronto, due to an armed man who walked around the school suspiciously.

It happened at ten in the morning, large police arrived and surrounded the house next to the school. The Beis Yaakov School is located on Batterset and Lorenz Streets, the armed man barricaded himself as stated in a house nearby the school.

The police ordered the school not to leave the school building. The school principal gave instruction to all students to lie on the floor for fear of shooting into the school grounds or fear of an explosion.

After about an hour the police managed to capture the entrenched, but schools still remain in a blockade. Meanwhile, the school switchboard was flooded with phone calls from concerned parents, rescue forces were at the ready just in case, and the area was closed to traffic. Toronto Police announced that students were not in danger and that none of them was injured.

The roads near the school were closed to traffic for a long time. Police are investigating the man who barricaded himself in, we will continue to update.
